Procomm Plus is a classic terminal emulation and communications suite for DOS and Windows, widely used in the late 1980s and 1990s to connect to bulletin board systems, mainframes, and remote hosts over dial‑up and, in later versions, TCP/IP. Known for its stability and rich feature set, it enabled reliable remote access, automation, and file transfer in both personal and enterprise environments.

Key features:

  • Multiple terminal emulations (e.g., VT100/220, ANSI, TTY) for compatibility with a wide range of hosts
  • Robust file transfer protocols, including Xmodem, Ymodem, Zmodem (with crash recovery), and Kermit
  • Powerful ASPECT scripting language for automating logins, sessions, and workflows
  • Dialing directory, modem control, and host mode for acting as a mini‑BBS or remote access point
  • Session logging, screen capture, keyboard macros, and customizable key mappings
  • Support for serial, modem, and, in later releases, Telnet over TCP/IP

Although now considered legacy software and largely superseded by modern SSH/Telnet clients, Procomm Plus remains notable for its reliability, flexible automation, and comprehensive communications toolset.
